bring life attunemtn and dont cast it on yourself. i hear a pet will help do dmg too, since your mirrior wont have one. bring whirling defense if you got it. basicly, you should be doing more dmg. you can also bring troll and distracting shot, but u need to feed a spell so your mirror burns his distracting shot.

I found this to be incredibly useful as I am the same class.
My skills were
Healing Spring
Whirling Defense
Distracting Shot
Troll Ungent
Basically the strategy is to hit whirling defense at the beginning then fire away. Everytime you see him case troll ungent you blast him with the distracting shot. He should go down pretty easily. Don't use healing spring, that skill is there to get the mirror to do something that will gain you about 3 or 4 seconds (easy to interrupt). Use troll ungent when using whirling defense. As long as your patient you should be able to distracting shot to shut him out. I recommend NOT distracting the healing spring as he will go to that skill repeated and it's 2 free hit almost. Distracting shot also reduces the damage overall and the 20 seconds is not much much longer than the healing spring recharge. So to me it's worth the 2 free full power shots. You can bring empty skills slots or useless ones.

I used traps. Spike and Dust traps, as my only damage with an occassional arrow to piss him off and get him to chase me through trap. I also brought dodge and storm chaser for run speed to get ahead of him. My plan was to just kite him through the traps until he died. I put all my points into wilderness survival and expertise so the traps were max damage and the expertise to reduce the cost of energy (they are energy hogs) I'd lay one initially on zoning in then run up the ramp. Make sure to set the traps on the INSIDE part of the ramp since that's where he runs the most. With the run buffs you can eventually get ahead of him and he'll stop chasing and you can lay more traps, especially after a good dust trap, he'll be blinded and can't really shoot you while you lay more traps.
It took me a few tries to get it right and lay the traps correctly for my first character (ranger/mesmer), but I used same tactic for my monk/ranger and beat him the first run.

found an easier way, put lots of points into wilderness mastery and bring apply poison, load it up before you go and fight him, then when hes buffing, unload all your attacks on him, youll both die, but he should die first.
